Art Cars and RV Modification

Art Car Build-Outs

Estu Studios specializes in CNC work, RV modifications, Art Car build outs, and a variety of services related to being a vagabond bad ass and Burning Man.  This is some of the most fun work and proposals for such projects are welcomed at any time.

RV Modification

The images below are from a revamped 1982 Toyota Chinook. We gutted nearly everything and installed plumbing, gas, various kitchen gear, versatile compact furniture, lighting, and various electronics.

Ornate Custom Interiors

A lot of attention was paid to aesthetics.  The main feature was a wood and mirrored roof that used a mathy aperiodic tiling system as its basis.  The great part about tiles is that they are naturally modular, so when you need functionality, ie: light fixture, window, etc, it fit right in as another tile.

CNC Wood Work

Clear plexi glass was also integrated into the system to produce a sun roof that matched the scheme.  To the right you can see a detail of the custom CNC carved trim work.

Speakers and Electronics

Other bells and whistles were thrown in.  Here a custom wood carving of an other worldly shield acts as a speaker cover.  Some warrior princess vibes were had, the pink speaker looking a breast.

Furniture and Upholstry

The image below was another major feet.  The original bed was a clunky hinged fold over thing.  We invented this modular slide down bed that would make it easier and more stylish.  It came to be known as the Han Solo Bench, because it was a lil Star Wars.  The bed operated like a tank tread.  Each leather upholstered hexagon was linked to another forming a flexible surface that would conform to any profile shape.

Kitchen and Utility Consols

The kitchenette was an obsessive act of industrial design.  All the components were accounted for, every mounting bracket and access cubby drafted then CNC cut from a variety of materials.  Mirror plexi was an ongoing theme and worked well as a durable water proof surface.  We cut it face down so we could do psychedelic patterns with a v-bit on the back.  It felt a little like the art direction in Dune.

Designer Furniture / CAD Prowess

Some components were salvaged from the old kitchen.  We did however completely remake the plumbing using a high powered on-demand pump, reservoir and carbon filters to make that road water taste great.
